History
- Herbert Traders Association was established in 1998 to benefit
the local businesses trading in and around Herbert Road in the
London Borough of Greenwich. The shopping parade is undergoing
a renaissance and is once again becoming a thriving local hub.
- Since the beginning the Traders have met on a regular basis
to promote communication between businesses, and to represent
and lobby business interests at all levels of local government.
This co-operation helped bring significant development projects
for the area such as the government-funded Neighbourhood Management
Changes in Common programme currently being delivered in the
neighbourhood, on whose management board three voting members
have represented Herbert Traders since its inception in 2002.
One of the aims of the Changes in Common programme is to regenerate
the local economy. Another government funded Liveability Project
designed to make the area greener, safer and cleaner is currently
underway and will be completed within the next few months transforming
the Herbert Road area.
- The ambition to constantly increase customer satisfaction
encouraged the traders to co-organize and actively influence
variety of public relations events such as the annually held
Herbert Road Street Party, which attracts residents not only
from Greenwich but also from Bexley and Lewisham, situated nearby.
- A recent communications success is the Herbert Traders Association
Directory - called The Blue Book - produced in conjunction with
Changes in Common.
